Good Day everyone,

We’re happy to share with you that thus far we have collected well over a full container of our 10 Things for Haiti. Items continue to come in on a daily basis. We are currently busy sorting the items and composing palates for shipment to Haiti. Thousands of pounds of food and supplies will be on their way in the coming weeks. With our friends in Haiti, we have been working to expand and staff the kitchen at the ANA Children’s Center to cook on a much bigger scale. When the food arrives, we will begin a one meal a day program for the community surrounding the orphanage. We hope to provide 500 meals a day for as long as our supplies last.

Of the two orphanages that we support, ANA Children’s Center and Bresma, over 85 children have been united with waiting parents in the US, Canada and Europe. Presently, there are 5 children left at ANA, and 11 at Bresma. We are working on a plan to open the facility to children recently orphaned by the earthquake once the buildings have been inspected and deemed safe.

Once again, we’re deeply grateful for this outpouring of support from our community. Stay tuned for more.

Regards,

Bruce Horwitz

As you well know, much of Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince has been destroyed by the earthquake of January 12. Lime-Aid has resolved to collect the following 10 staples of life to ease the pain of what lies ahead for this country.

10 Things for Haiti:

  1. 25 or 50 pound bag of rice (Costco or Smart and Final)
  2. Dry Beans
  3. Milk Powder
  4. Liquid Formula
  5. Peanut Butter (in plastic jars)
  6. Dried Meat
  7. Spaghetti
  8. Cooking Oil
  9. Bleach Tablets
  10. Multivitamins

Money

As important as any of the above, donations of money are critical to insure safe passage of these items to where they are needed. Dovetail Furniture has secured a trucking company that will transport the container to Miami, where it will then be shipped to Port-au-Prince. Air Freight will be extremely expensive, as well as secure transport to the orphanages.

Our collections will be distributed to the ANA Children’s Center and Brebis de Saint Michelle Orphanage. They will also be made available to the communities that surround these facilities.

**BOXES WILL BE PICKED UP ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 29TH.**
